Future Earth Australia, a project of The Australian Academy of Science, is seeking a motivated and experienced research officer to contribute to the next phase of Future Earth Australia.

The Academy is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established by Royal Charter in 1954 with an elected Fellowship of over 530 leading Australian scientists.  The Academy celebrates and supports excellence in Australian science, promotes international scientific engagement, builds public awareness and understanding of science and provides independent, authoritative and influential scientific advice.

Future Earth Australia is seeking a motivated and experienced research officer to contribute to the next phase of Future Earth Australia.  Applicants who have worked in academia or government in early to mid-career research positions are encouraged to apply.  The role occasionally requires work outside of core hours and some domestic and international travel. The contract will be a 12 month fixed termin contract with the possibility of extension based on performance, funding and workload.

Selection criterias include,

  1. A relevant tertiary qualification.
  2. Demonstrated experience in developing positive stakeholder relationships, especially with the scientific and academic community.
  3. Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, management and synthesis.
  4. A successful track record of autonomous project management including internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  5. An ability to work across the sciences’, social sciences’, and humanities’ disciplines with ease.
